Volunteering

VOLUNTEERING

Volunteers are at the heart of the Academy and without them we would not be able to enrich the lives of so many individuals.
However big or small your contribution is it will be gratefully received.

Committee

As a member of UK Athletics there is a requirement for the Academy to have a committee which currently comprises of the following roles:

Chair

Secretary

Treasurer

Membership

Coaching

Welfare

Kit

Social

In order for the Academy to operate effectively and participate in external events and competitions additional help from motivated and passionate individuals is always appreciated.

If you feel you are able to bring new ideas and skills or can spare some time to help develop the Academy and it's athletes, please speak to a coach who will be able to direct you to a committee member . Alternatively  request further information by submitting a form on the contact us website page.

Coaching

Are  you keen, motivated,  enthusiastic and feel you could make a difference? Coaching can be fun and rewarding and no previous experience is necessary. You will be required to completed a short course with UK Athletics (funded by the Academy). Opportunities start by following one of two pathways:

  • TRACK & FIELD begins with a coaching assistant award  which is an introduction to running, jumping, throwing and how to coach. On successful completion of this award you will have the opportunity to attend an athletics coach course which will cover physical preparation and core technical knowledge across seven events.
  • OFF TRACK begins with a leadership in running fitness qualification and on successful completion of this award you will have the opportunity to attend a coach in running fitness course.

Not quite ready to take the plunge but would still like to contribute, why not consider becoming a parent helper?

If you are interested please speak to a coach who will be able to direct you to the appropriate person for further information.

Officials

In order for athletes to compete in events clubs are required to provide officials to cover tasks that ensure the rules of athletics are enforced and adhered to.

UKA Officiating information

Like to help but officiating is not for you? Parent helpers are hugely valuable and are always required at competitions. No course is necessary, all you need is a little of your time and plenty of enthusiasm.

Contact

If you are interested in volunteering in any of the areas listed or feel you are able to contribute in another way and would like to chat or find out more please speak to David our volunteer coordinator.
